Event Description

Join the Intelligence Project for an in-person seminar with Jonathan Czin, former senior CIA analyst on China and former NSC director for China, for a discussion of China's likely foreign policy beyond 2027 as Xi Jinping enters his fourth term. The talk will build off Czin's recent articles The Four Seasons of Xi’s Foreign Policy and The Coming Taiwan Crisis: Use Today’s Calm to Prepare for the Next Perfect Storm, in which Czin explores inflection points in Xi Jinping's strategy and the likelihood that 2028 will bring another inflection point in which, depending on election outcomes in Taiwan and the United States, China may take on, in Czin's words, a more assertive foreign policy.

This event is open to Harvard ID holders and RSVP is required. The event will be held under the Chatham House Rule. Light refreshments will be provided.

Jonathan A. Czin is the Michael H.
