<p><strong>2026 Legislative Elections in Israel and Palestine: A Two-Part Series</strong> </p><p> </p><p>This fall, both Israelis and Palestinians will vote in legislative elections that may profoundly reshape their political trajectories and determine how these two inextricably tied political systems will interact in the future. </p><p> </p><p>Part 1 | <strong>2026 Palestinian Legislative Elections: Challenges and Possibilities</strong> </p><p>September 22 at 4:30pm </p><p> </p><p>After more than two decades, elections for the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) are scheduled for November, amidst clashes in the West Bank, war and humanitarian devastation in Gaza, and chronic economic difficulties. If these elections proceed, they offer a generational opportunity for Palestinian civilians to shape their government, and possibly rebuild trust in their political institutions.</p><p> </p><p>Join the Middle East Initiative for the first session in this two-part series, moderated by MEI Senior Fellow and former U.S. Ambassador <strong>Edward Djerejian</strong>, as we explore the importance and impact of these elections on their respective polities and the broader region. </p>
