Event Description
<p>Please join the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs for a conversation with <a href="https://www.brookings.edu/people/suzanne-maloney/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Suzanne Maloney</strong></a>, Vice President and Director of the Foreign Policy Program at the Brookings Institution. Maloney will discuss the war in Iran and its implications for the future of Middle East security and U.S. foreign policy. </p><p> </p><p>Suzanne Maloney leads Brookings’s research and impact on challenges to peace and security around the world. She has advised both Democratic and Republican administrations on foreign policy issues, including as an external advisor to senior State Department officials during the Obama administration and as a member of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s Policy Planning staff. She has authored, co-authored, or edited five books and has published numerous book chapters and articles in academic and policy journals as well as news outlets such as the <em>Washington Post</em>, <em>New York Times</em>, <em>Wall Street Journal</em>, <em>Politico</em>, <em>Financial Times</em>, and <em>Foreign Affairs</em>. Earlier in her career, she worked in the private sector, including as Middle East advisor for ExxonMobil Corporation. Maloney holds a doctorate from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and studied in Tehran as part of the only academic exchanges between the United States and Iran since the 1979 revolution. </p><p> </p><p>The seminar will be moderated by Belfer Center Director <a href="https://www.belfercenter.org/person/meghan-l-osullivan" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Meghan O'Sullivan</strong></a>, the Jeane Kirkpatrick Professor of the Practice of International Affairs at Harvard Kennedy School. </p><p> </p><p><strong>Attendance is in-person and for HUID holders only.
