Event Description
<p><a href="https://www.jchs.harvard.edu/staff/whitney-airgood-obrycki" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Whitney Airgood-Obrycki</a> is a Senior Research Associate at the <a href="https://www.jchs.harvard.edu/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies (JCHS)</a>, working on research related to affordable rental housing for low-income households and serving as the project manager and lead author of the Center's signature report <a href="https://www.jchs.harvard.edu/americas-rental-housing" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><em>America’s Rental Housing</em></a>. Dr. Airgood-Obrycki's research interests include affordable housing policy, affordability measures, rental housing markets, and suburban neighborhood change. Her work has been published in <em>Housing Policy Debate</em>, <em>Urban Studies</em>, <em>Journal of Urban Affairs</em>, and <em>Environment and Planning A: Economy and Space</em>. She holds a BA in History from Simmons College, an MS in Historic Preservation from Ball State University, and a PhD in City & Regional Planning from The Ohio State University.</p><p> </p><p>At this session of Data + Donuts, Dr. Airgood-Obrycki will speak about current approaches to measuring housing affordability. She'll explore what different data sources tell us, the limitations of each, and the complexities of tracking housing stock and production.</p><p> </p><p>This talk will be given in a hybrid format. Harvard affiliates are invited to register to attend in person, while members of the public are invited to attend online.</p><p> </p><p>Since 2018, Data + Donuts has featured researchers and practitioners speaking about how they use data in their work, and on issues of data and society.
