Event Description
<p>Join Evan Lieberman, Total Professor of Political Science and Contemporary Africa and Director of the Center for International Studies at MIT, for a Global Challenges to Democracy seminar. </p><p>What does dignity have to do with democracy and development? Drawing on experimental micro-level evidence from the United States and historical evidence from South Africa, this talk explores the theoretical and empirical relationship between these normative ideals of the good life. </p><p><em>Lunch will be served starting at 11:45 AM. </em></p><p> </p><p><strong>Office Hours</strong></p><p>In addition to this event, interested Harvard faculty, fellows, and students can sign up for office hours to meet with Evan Lieberman. This seminar series, co-chaired by Professors Yanilda María González and Gautam Nair and hosted by the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation, delves deep into the various challenges, both internal and external, that stand in the way of building more accountable, responsive, and capable democracy.
