Event Description
<p>Cities are rethinking how they support renters amid rising housing costs, displacement pressures, and persistent affordability challenges. Across the country, state and local governments are adopting new protections—from eviction diversion and right-to-counsel programs to tenant screening reforms, rent stabilization, and regulations on algorithmic rent-setting. </p><p>This event will bring together researchers and practitioners to examine what these policies mean for cities: why jurisdictions are adopting them, what evidence exists on their impact, and what lessons are emerging from early adopters. </p><p> </p><p>Reflecting the Bloomberg Center for Cities’ commitment to connecting research and practice, the discussion will explore how city leaders can evaluate policy tradeoffs and design strategies that promote housing stability for residents. </p><p> </p><p>Hosted by the Bloomberg Center for Cities and the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University. </p><p> </p><p>The in-person event is open to Harvard University ID holders only. Lunch will be provided. Registration is required as space is limited. Virtual event is open to all. Doors open and food is available at 2:45 p.m. </p>
