Event Description

The panel will present current U.S. labor unions strategies to strengthen labor rights and mobilize union members, and workers more broadly, towards a shared political agenda. Labor unions in the public and private sectors are engaging workers to advance rights, address workplace issues and improve labor conditions, and build worker power through political campaigns and policy advocacy. Some pursue internal political education programs as part of their organizing strategies, some endorse candidates for office or policy initiatives, and many conduct field and electoral work on behalf of their members’ shared interests. In this time of extremely divisive politics in government, and unprecedented weakening of the rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining at the federal level, hear from leading union political leaders about how their unions are responding and advancing their agendas.

Lunch will be provided.
