Event Description
<p>Please join the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs for a conversation with <strong>Roger Zakheim</strong>, Director of the Ronald Reagan Institute. He will discuss the Trump administration’s national defense strategy and its interaction with public opinion on defense and foreign policy. </p><p> </p><p>Mr. Zakheim is the co-founder of the Reagan National Defense Forum and host of the <em>Reaganism</em> podcast. He previously practiced law at Covington & Burling LLP, where he led the firm’s Public Policy and Government Affairs practice group. Before joining Covington he was General Counsel and Deputy Staff Director of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee. In this role, Mr. Zakheim managed the passage of the annual National Defense Authorization Act, the defense policy bill which authorizes the Defense Department’s budget. Mr. Zakheim’s government experience also includes serving as a Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense. </p><p> </p><p>Mr. Zakheim frequently speaks and writes on national security and defense issues. He has testified before a number of Congressional committees and regularly appears on TV and lectures on national security topics. His views have appeared in <em>The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Politico, Fox News, CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg</em>, the <em>Atlantic</em>, and <em>National Review</em>, among other media outlets. </p><p> </p><p>The seminar will be moderated by Belfer Center Director <strong>Meghan O'Sullivan</strong>, Jeane Kirkpatrick Professor of the Practice of International Affairs, Harvard Kennedy School. </p><p> </p><p><strong>Attendance is in-person and for HUID holders only.
